Recommended Books:

I recommend reading some of these books. I have read all of them. Borrow them from the library or buy them; but read them! Click the links to buy them from Amazon.

Setting up an Internet Site for Dummies -- This has some useful information on setting up an internet site, although some of the information is highly technical and complicated. It comes with a CD-ROM that has many useful scripts as well as applications.

Java For Dummies -- This is a fair introduction to Java, although it is far too enthusiastic. Again, it comes with a useful CD-ROM, full of java applets as well as programs. However, this book does not teach one to actually program Java; there is another Dummies book for that.

JavaScript for Dummies -- This is a good introduction to JavaScript, the scripting language that is sweeping the globe. It is more technical than many Dummies books, because it actually teaches one to program JavaScript. Like any good dummies book, it includes a CD-ROM with some useful scripts.

Frontpage 2000 for Dummies -- A good manual on Microsoft's Frontpage 2000, because Microsoft does not believe in providing good manuals with their defective products. (not that I am biased, or anything . . .) However, this book is pretty simple--if you are even mildly decent at using Frontpage Express, you can probably just skip through half the book, though.

The Idiot's Guide to Dating -- I think this is bringing the Idiot's and Dummies' guides just a little too far. But it is hilarious reading (hey-I didn't buy it; I just read it in Borders). Only computer programmers need to read this book for the info.

Philip and Alex's Guide to Web Publishing -- This is a very informative book, primarily oriented towards relational database programming. Philip Greenspun has some good things to say, though, even though I didn't understand half the book.
